Alabama at Tennessee Drew 8.1 Million Viewers, the Third-Biggest Audience of Week 7

Tennessee's 26-10 win over Alabama was also one of the most-watched games of Week 7 of the college football season. The Third Saturday in October matchup drew 8.10 million viewers on ABC for its 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff in Knoxville, ranking third among all games that week according to the Nielsen figures compiled by On3.

Only two games finished ahead of it. Ohio State's win over Indiana on FOX drew 10.38 million viewers in the noon window, and Notre Dame's loss to BYU pulled 9.16 million in prime time on ABC. Florida's upset of Texas, at 4.69 million, and Penn State's game against Michigan, at 4.50 million, rounded out the top five, with Friday night's Washington-Purdue game and late windows featuring Nebraska-Oregon and Arizona State-Texas Tech filling out the rest of the top 10.

The audiences matched a chaotic Saturday across the sport. Five of the top seven teams in the AP Top 25 lost, including No. 1 Georgia falling to Auburn and No. 2 Notre Dame losing its top-10 matchup with BYU. In all, Week 7 became the second most-watched regular-season Saturday on record, totaling 12.8 billion viewing minutes.

For Tennessee, the spotlight fit the performance. DeSean Bishop carried 32 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns as the Volunteers improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in SEC play, and more than eight million people watched it happen.
